Hello! My name is Ellie and I am the founder of Honeybunch Baby. I thought it might be interesting to write a little introduction post about me so you have an idea of who you’re buying from and why I am starting this little venture.
Where are you from?
Originally, I am from Reading in Berkshire but I now live with my husband and (almost) one year old son in Romsey, Hampshire. It’s a lovely town close to the New Forest and not too far from my favourite place, the beach in Bournemouth. I’d love to live by the sea one day – I find the sound of waves so calming and the idea of them being right on my doorstep is incredible.
What are your favourite things about yourself?
I have a good dose of determination which I think will stand me in good stead for this venture. Sometimes this does emerge as stubborn-ness which I’m sure my husband would say is super annoying though.
What would your parents have named you if you were the opposite gender?
My mum had picked out the name Edmund for me if I had been a boy. It’s funny, my husband is actually called Edd so my mum did end up with an Ed(mund) in the family after all.
What inspires you?
I have always wanted to be my own boss and the possibility of achieving financial independence inspires me greatly. I’d love to not have to go back to ‘normal’ work when my little one goes to school. Keeping my brain ticking when the majority of my week is filled with nursery rhymes and nappies is undoubtedly important for my sanity too!
Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?
At the moment, it would have to be Zara. Some of their clothing is so unique although I think I would need to boost my confidence levels a bit to try and pull a few of their styles off. I would definitely have to spend a chunk of it in the kids department too.
Which female celebrity do you wish was your sister?
Giovanna Fletcher or Holly Willoughby. Both are inspirations to me as they clearly do such incredible jobs as mums but also as businesswomen. Girl power!
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Now I have a one year old, I’m definitely a morning person! He is awake at 6.30am every morning (which I know is a lie-in for lots of parents!) so I don’t really have a choice or the energy to be a night owl. Plus I love my sleep so early nights are very welcome.
One thing you know now that you wish you had known as a kid?
That it is OK to be who you are, no matter what anyone else thinks. Do and be what makes you happy. I still struggle a little with this but I think it was all consuming when I was younger.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was about eight, I really wanted to be an air hostess, so much so that I wrote to Richard Branson to ask him what I would need to do to become part of the Virgin Atlantic crew. Amazingly, I got a reply but the ambition didn’t last. I worked in Public Relations for six years before becoming a mum in September 2017.
My Etsy shop will officially open at the end of September with a selection of baby milestone clothing and celebration bunting which I am so excited to share with you. In the meantime, you can follow Honeybunch Baby on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to get more frequent updates on the launch and my product range. Thank you for reading.
